Therapy Services
I work with a range of concerns and symptoms, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem and negative self-talk, relational distress and trauma, and body image issues.
However, we might be an especially perfect match if you find you’re struggling with any of these following concerns:
For when you’re feeling resentful about one-sided effort in relationships, or when you’re starting to realize that people-pleasing and putting others first is leaving you last way too often.
Let’s find out how to make your relationships more fair to you.
Interpersonal Wellness
LGBTQIA+ Support
It’s essential to have good support when you’re asking new questions about your sexuality and gender identity, taking the next steps in your relationship, or figuring out how to live more authentically you.
In worsening sociopolitical times, you deserve to know who is in your corner and knows just how to talk about it all.
Balancing Life & Responsibilities
You notice that you’re dropping the ball more often, when you’re usually so on top of everything (both your own “everything” and maybe some of everyone else’s “everything” too). At the same time, maybe you’re wondering if life could be more fulfilling than this.
It’s time to see what an authentic, balanced life looks like outside of staying on top of it all.
Overwhelm & Stress
When emotions are going haywire and the littlest things seem to be setting you off in ways that they never did before, people in your life may be asking you to take a break. The problem is that you couldn’t take a break right now even if you wanted to.
Your emotions and stress are trying to tell you something, so we’ll learn to work with them, not against them.
I hope that our therapy work together will feel authentic, warm, and like the collaboration between two experts: Me, the expert on how certain strategies or perspective shifts might help, and you, the expert on your own life and what may or may not be an effective change to make right now.
I always aim to provide LGBTQIA+ affirmative care within a sex-positive, anti-racist, fat liberation model.
Assessment Services
Pursuing a formal diagnosis can be an important step in more deeply understanding your lived experience and how certain symptoms may be impacting you, especially if you’re in need of some more clarity and support. But it can also be so nerve-wracking! In my assessment approach, I aim to make sure that you understand the process, have the space to ask all of the questions you need, and feel supported in identifying next steps after receiving the report.
ADHD | Autism | Services for Adults, Adolescents, and Children age 8 and up
What to expect with my psychodiagnostic assessments:
Approximately three sessions: An initial interview where we review current symptoms and background/history, a testing session, and a feedback session where we review the written report together. This typically takes a few weeks, but usually no more than a month.
An evidence-based assessment battery, conducted by a psychologist trained in assessment and diagnosis.
Additional letters/forms completed for school and work accommodation requests. *Please note that I will not be able to complete FMLA or leave paperwork for any client without a previously established therapeutic relationship and ongoing treatment plan.
Letters of Support for Gender Affirming Medical and Surgical Treatments (GAMSTs)
If you are seeking gender-affirming treatment, your medical provider, surgeon, or insurance company may specifically require a letter of support written by a licensed mental health professional with a doctorate. Always check with the authority requesting this letter to confirm requirements for the letter writer, so that you don’t have to jump through any potentially unnecessary hoops.
I am honored to provide this important service to reduce barriers to the care that is unanimously supported by these organizations as safe, effective, and medically necessary when clinically indicated:
American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American Psychological Association, American Psychiatric Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, the Endocrine Society, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH)
Access support, not gatekeeping
The WPATH Standards of Care (version 8) encourage trained letter writers like me to focus on an “informed consent” approach. This means assessing your capacity for informed consent and how you understand the treatment you are pursuing, including its benefits and risks, rather than being the one to make the call as to whether you are “really” transgender or nonbinary. As a result, I will ask about how you understand the treatment, your surgeon or medical provider’s expertise, aftercare when needed, your support system, minimizing risk, and potential impact on fertility/reproduction. I will also assess your mental health history to see if you may need some additional support in preparation for your gender-affirming care, and we will also explore experiences of gender euphoria you may have experienced already! Overall, the goal of the letter is to emphasize that you are ready and feel informed about your treatment plan.
